Maryanne Leichter

Hebron Board of Education

My name is Maryanne Leichter and I am running for the Hebron Public Schools Board of Education. My husband Mal and I have lived in Hebron since 1974.  I am currently a member of the Hebron Board of Education and currently serve as the chair.  Prior to this position, I served on the RHAM Regional Board of Education for over 4 years.

I have an interest in public education because I had a 37.5 year career as a teacher and an administrator- (special education teacher for 27.5 years and as an administrator for 10 years).  During this time I was very passionate about the work of educating students and remain so to this day.  I have been diligent in my position to make sure the activities of the board are transparent to the public.  I always have my eye on the budget for our schools and the quality of the programs offered.  I know these issues are of central importance to the residents of Hebron.

During the past 4 years there have been a lot of changes in the structure of the schools.  We have faced the elimination of teaching positions, and administrative positions.  There have been many Superintendents during my tenure.   My approach to all of these changes has been bipartisan and I believe that I work well with all of the board members.  Being   able to give back to this community I have called home for 40+ years is important to me.  I hope you will vote for me on November 3, 2015.
