Davis HowellPlanning & Zoning (alternate)HI, my name is Davis Howell and I am running to be an alternate on the Planning and Zoning commission. My wife, Donna, and I moved here 38 years ago and the longer we were here the more we fell in love with Hebron. We were originally attracted by the small town feel (we had about 4000 people back then), the rural look, the friendly people and the affordability. We immediately put down roots. Both of us became deeply involved with the Church of the Holy Family, attending the first Mass at Gilead Elementary, sitting on the planning board figuring out what we wanted to build, where to build it, and how do we get the money? Donna designed the stained glass windows, formed a team to build and install them. Those windows were her most treasured accomplishment. Al the same time I was parish council president and became very familiar with how to compromise, how to be responsive to people and more importantly, how to get results. My favorite thing about Hebron continues to be the look and feel of our town. Hebron was a warm and inviting town in 1985 and still is today. My belief is we need to maintain that look while we move forward with the progress that is needed and inevitable. Most days you can find me working in my garden and flower beds, hitting golf balls at one of our local courses or rearranging my wife’s flamingos in my front yard. Recently retired, I now have the time to give back some of my good fortune. My career experience included being on teams that built several facilities in various locations that required interface with local P & Z groups. That coupled with my Church experience has given me a skill set that fits well with the position I am running for. I am looking for your support on November 7th and am excited about working with the other board and commission members. |
